The single biggest theme across everything EA has said about Evos this year: less about stacking the biggest possible upgrade, more about meaningful choices. Here's what's confirmed and what's leaking out.
Some evolutions now split into a choice of two upgrade directions instead of one fixed outcome. Not every evolution uses this — plenty stay linear.
An evolution might branch into: dribbling + Technical PlayStyle on one path, versus defensive awareness + Jockey PlayStyle on the other — same evolution, two very different cards depending which you pick.
Before committing to an evolution, you can preview what the NEXT evolution in the chain would look like — see where a path leads before you spend anything on it.
Returns as a recurring program — and per a leak (@FutSheriff), it's available right at launch this time, not added mid-season like FC 26's rollout.
Down from 5 — continuing last year's trend (2 → 3 on FC 26). Don't expect any evo to grant more than 3 PS+ this year.
EA's stated goal: bring Evos into better balance with the rest of FUT. Four concrete mechanisms they say they're "broadly considering":
Evo items can still be made powerful, but far fewer will reach the level of top-tier campaign items than in FC 26.
Stops stacking boosts that don't fit a position's archetype — e.g. no more defensive boosts on attacker evos. Fewer "perfectly well-rounded" min-maxed items.
Coin/engagement requirements likely increase for evos that produce especially powerful items, so the investment lines up with what powerful items cost elsewhere in FUT.
Fewer evolutions that grant big stat upgrades without raising OVR at all — the kind of evo that used to dodge rating creep entirely.
Our Evo Lab's eligibility logic will need real changes once FC 27 evo data exists — not just a data refresh.
